I was due to give a talk at a local library in April but I’ve just (March 25) been ‘cancelled’ – under election purdah rules. In the run-up to the May local elections, my book was flagged as being too political. (Yes, it’s fiction, make-believe, not a political book as such – but local authority libraries are cautious.) Not to worry, I’m rescheduled for June, with a few other gigs also on the horizon. In the meantime, I’m feeling a little flattered to become the author of a ‘banned’ book (if only temporarily). The story was picked up by the Times diary.
